Friday Sermons
As an Imam at LECI, I deliver weekly khutbahs that address the spiritual needs of incarcerated Muslims. I also occasionally give khutbahs at other Islamic centers and events. These sermons blend classical Islamic knowledge with practical guidance for contemporary challenges, offering hope, encouragement, and direction for Muslims navigating life's journey.
Hadith 17 & 18 — Excellence in Everything and Consciousness of Allah
An exploration of two profound hadiths: the command to perfect everything we do, including the manner of taking life (Hadith 17), and the comprehensive advice to be conscious of Allah wherever we are (Hadith 18). Together they teach us ihsan—excellence in worship and character.
Hadith 15 & 16 — Speech, Hospitality, and Anger: The Pillars of Social Harmony
A deep exploration of two essential teachings from Imam Nawawi's collection: the three commands for believers regarding speech, neighbors, and guests (Hadith 15), and the repeated counsel against anger (Hadith 16). This khutbah reveals how mastering our tongues and tempers creates the foundation for a harmonious Muslim community.
Hadith 13 & 14 — Brotherhood and the Sanctity of Life: The Framework of Community
An exploration of two foundational principles from Imam Nawawi's collection: loving for your brother what you love for yourself (Hadith 13) and the absolute sanctity of Muslim blood, property, and honor (Hadith 14). This khutbah reveals how these complementary teachings create the complete framework for a just, compassionate, and unified community.
Hadith 11 & 12 — Leaving Doubt and Drama: The Path to Inner Peace
A deep exploration of two transformative principles from Imam Nawawi's collection: leaving doubtful matters (Hadith 11) and avoiding what doesn't concern us (Hadith 12). This khutbah reveals how these complementary teachings protect our faith, preserve our relationships, and guide us to spiritual clarity in a world full of confusion.
Truth and Sincerity: Building Authentic Foundations
A comprehensive examination of the two conditions for accepted deeds—sincerity and conformity to the Sunnah—and how the masjid serves as the fortress against bid'ah. This khutbah explores unity upon truth, welcoming all seekers while maintaining authenticity, and the urgent need to establish Conneaut's first masjid.
Hadith 10 — Purity of Provisions and Acceptance of Deeds
An essential teaching on how unlawful income and provisions corrupt our worship and prevent the acceptance of our du'a. This khutbah emphasizes the critical connection between halal earnings and spiritual purity, drawing from the profound wisdom of the 10th hadith in Imam Nawawi's collection.
The Obligation of Da'wah: Building Centers of Light
A powerful reminder about every Muslim's personal obligation to call others to Islam, especially when living in non-Muslim lands. This fundraising khutbah connects the duty of da'wah with the necessity of establishing masajid as centers for spreading Islam and nurturing future generations.
Hadith 9 — Commands and Prohibitions: The Path of Submission
A comprehensive examination of how to approach divine commands and prohibitions, learning from the mistakes of previous nations. This khutbah explores the balance between questioning for understanding and blind argumentation, emphasizing complete submission to Allah's guidance.
Hadith 8 — Fighting for Truth: Islam's Balance of Mercy and Justice
A profound examination of the hadith on fighting until the establishment of Islam, clarifying misconceptions while exploring Islam's balanced approach to peace and conflict. This khutbah demonstrates how Islam champions justice without transgression and mercy without weakness.
Hadith 7 — The Deen is Naseehah: Sincerity and Advice
An exploration of the comprehensive hadith that summarizes Islam in one word—naseehah. This khutbah examines what it means to have sincere devotion to Allah, His Book, His Messenger, Muslim leaders, and the common people, with practical guidance on embodying this principle.

Important Note
The khutbahs presented here are based on my written notes and have been formatted as readable articles. The actual spoken khutbah may differ from what is written here. Due to security restrictions at correctional facilities, I am not permitted to bring recording devices or even wear a watch - only a few pages of handwritten notes are allowed. Therefore, no audio or video recordings are available for most khutbahs.
Note: All khutbahs dated before August 2025 were mass imported using an automated tool and may contain citation errors, formatting inconsistencies, or other minor issues from the import process. These are being gradually reviewed and corrected.
